A current PhD student at QUT, Alex completed his Master of Philosophy in 2017. He had previously graduated the Bachelor of Mathematics at QUT, and Alex has a passion for Mathematics. He is also a sessional academic tutor, demonstrating workshops up to a second-year university level. An OP 2 graduate from St Pauls School in 2012, he won many awards in the field including;

  • Academic Gold in Graphics, Mathematics B, Mathematics C and Physics.
  • Murrumba Downs Team Mathematics Competition – Senior Division – Gold.
  • High Commendation in the UQ Mathematics Competition.
  • High distinction in every Maths subject undertaken at university.
  • Dean’s Awards List.
  • 2014/15 AMSI Research Scholarship.
  • Australian Postgraduate Award.

He has also presented or spoken at a number of conferences;

  • AMSI VRES conference in Melbourne (2015).
  • ANZIAM conference in Adelaide (2017).
  • MC of Mathematical Sciences Careers evening (2017).
  • ANZIAM conference in Hobart (February, 2018).

Alex tutored many peers throughout his senior years in Mathematics B, C and Physics. His friendly, supportive and outgoing attitude helped them to unlock their full potential and achieve highly in these subjects. He has also participated in volunteer maths tutoring at university.

As an Applied Mathematician, Alex is able to tutor anything from high school Mathematics and Physics to university level Mathematics in fields including; Differential Equations, Advanced Calculus, Computational Mathematics, Mathematical Modelling, Linear Algebra, Probability and Bayesian Statistics. He is also able to aid with commonly used mathematical programming languages such as MATLAB, C++, R and Latex.

Josiah completed his Bachelor of Mathematics at QUT, he then worked as a data analyst at Quantium through 2016.

Recently completed his Bachelor of Mathematics at QUT, Nicholas is now studying his Research Masters (Applied Science). Graduating from Mackay Christian College in 2012 with an OP 1 he has received many awards including:
